MANUFACTURING CONNECT: A REPLICABLE MODEL IN URBAN HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION

There’s a new paper on our Manufacturing Connect program in the Austin community written by Nichola Lowe, Department of City and Regional Planning, University of North Carolina. Manufacturing Connect is a program of Manufacturing Renaissance. Professor Lowe writes:

Chicago’s Manufacturing Connect program, demonstrate(es) opportunities for providing high school students within high-poverty neighborhoods with the foundational skills and tools to embark on successful manufacturing careers…Manufacturing Connect provides a replicable model for helping firms not only recruit and retain recent high school graduates, but also formalize internal mentoring and training systems that benefit incumbent workers more generally.
