MFG CONNECT CASE STUDY PUBLISHED IN THE JOURNAL OF SCHOOL & SOCIETY
April 14, 2016 – Erica Swinney was invited to be one of the “Community Voices” for the Journal of School and Society’s latest issue exploring the future of vocational education. Erica wrote a case study on the Manufacturing Connect program titled Building the Bridge as We Travel, which tells the full story of how the MC program developed, including its origins which stretch back to the founding of Manufacturing Renaissance as an organization, key features, strengths, challenges and lessons-learned. This issue also includes “Educator Voices” with an article written by an Austin Multiplex teacher, Mr. Kevin Russell, who works regularly with our program. Mr. Russell offers his perspective on how he now sees vocational education as an important complement to college preparatory-oriented education.
