A PROPOSAL FOR SCALABLE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
MR, with support from NIMS, the Chicago Federation of Labor, the Chicago Teachers Union Foundation, OAI and other key advisers, successfully submitted the preliminary application for the MacArthur Foundation 100 & Change grant. The proposal for a regional development initiative is based on lessons learned over MR’s 30 years’ experience to scale up promising practices that can address systemic poverty through re-establishing linkages between communities and the regional manufacturing sector. As part of the application package, we put together this 90-second video featuring Executive Director Dan Swinney and one of our proud Manufacturing Connect graduates, Ernest Laster. The video is a testament to our philosophy that advanced manufacturing can end the cycle of poverty and create thriving communities and Ernest is a shining example of our philosophy in action. You can view the video on our You Tube page.
