This GivingTuesday, December 3rd 2019, Manufacturing Renaissance will celebrate giving by raising funds to support its mission that manufacturing matters #mfgmatters
Manufacturing is a sector that provides living wage jobs and upwardly mobile careers. Manufacturing has taken many of the youth we serve off the streets. It has given them an alternative path from crime and violence towards economic self-sufficiency and self-pride.
We will participate in this event for the 2nd year in a row. GivingTuesday is celebrated across the world, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
Last year, we raised short of $1,400. This year our goal is to raise $1,500 and we have a matching partner - Freedman Seating Company. Freedman Seating Company is one of our longest manufacturing employer partners. The company is located in Humboldt Park, on the West Side of Chicago, and it employs about 900 people. Over the years, Freedman hired 15 of our graduating participants, providing them the opportunity to start their careers. The company is very much involved in the surrounding community, as it strongly believes in the role that jobs can play in revitalizing neighborhoods. Freedman is celebrating its 125th anniversary fabricating seats for buses, trains and boats.
Dakkota Integrated Systems, another manufacturing partner of ours, already donated $500 in support of GivingTuesday. We hope others will join by donating so that we can reach our fundraising goal.
