MANUFACTURING RENAISSANCE CITED AS A “NATIONAL BEST PRACTICE MODEL” BY THE CENTURY FOUNDATION

Revitalizing America’s Manufacturing Communities—a recently published paper written by Joel Yudken, Andrew Stettner, and Tom Croft cites Manufacturing Renaissance as a national best practice model. The publication featuring MR takes a deep look into America’s manufacturing industrial policies and programs. The Century Foundation is a highly respected national think tank that publishes papers and analysis on a wide variety of important issues. Dan Swinney was invited to make a presentation during a major conference in October on mid-western manufacturing policy perspectives. SENATOR DURBIN, ALDERMAN MITTS TOUR AUSTIN COLLEGE & CAREER ACADEMY

TWO NEW COMMITTEES AND A FOCUS ON INDUSTRIAL POLICY INTRODUCED AT CMRC MEMBERSHIP MEETING

December 14, 2017– Manufacturers, labor, educators, government officials, and community leaders met at WaterSaver Faucet to share ideas and updates at the December general membership meeting of the Chicagoland Manufacturing Renaissance Council. The diverse and lively gathering included presentations from Austin College and Career Academy principal Patricia Reynolds, who lauded the work of council members in helping the school increase freshman enrollment by 300% over last year and raise the academic status of the school by one full level. 9 AREA EDUCATORS GRADUATE FROM MANUFACTURING INSTRUCTOR TRAINING PROGRAM

On December 11th, 2017 9 instructors from the Instructors Apprenticeship for Advanced Manufacturing (IAAM) pilot training initiative earned 75 Illinois State Board of Education professional development hours from the Chicago Teachers Union Foundation Quest Center for Professional Learning, completed 200 hours of technical training administered by Manufacturing Renaissance, and as a cohort, attained over 30 credentials from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills over the last 6 months.
